East Coast Forks of the Credit River Road
Your tour guide: Martin.Meissner of Evanston, Illinois
This is a neat road just north of Caledon, Ontario, Canada, that goes west from Hwy. 50 into a cute little town called Bellefountain and ends in the town of Erin. The road runs alongside the Credit River and is an absolutely exhilarating drive starting with a series of what I lovingly refer to as "whoopdy doos," quick ups and downs that give you that rollercoaster feeling, followed by a winding road that follows the river. Look closely because there are some beautiful houses hidden in the trees.

Drive over an old bridge and then climb the hill out of the valley through switchbacks! Follow the road a little farther, and then you reach Bellefountain. This is a cute little village with antique shops and an ice cream parlor -- definitely worth a stop. Continue out of Bellefountain towards Erin.

If you want to carry on, you can go into the town of Guelph along Hwy. 24 (I think). When you reach Guelph, head north out of town on Hwy. 6 and follow the signs to Elora. The Elora Gorge is a beautiful area, and the town of Elora is a village of stone buildings built right on the river's edge. The Elora Mill is a beautiful restaurant and B&B -- the perfect place for a weekend getaway!
